I teach at Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, mainly in the M2 Data and Intelligence for Smart Systems (DISS) programme.

Current courses
#

Data Processing and Analytics · M2 DISS · Fall · since 2022
Large-scale data processing through the three V’s of Big Data: batch processing with Hadoop and Spark, stream processing with Spark Structured Streaming, data quality constraints and repair, and graph data management with GraphX and GraphFrames.

Research Methods and Scientific Communication · M2 DISS · Fall · since 2022
How research works, from research questions and problem statements to experiment design, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, scientific writing, open data, and research ethics.

Natural Language Processing · M2 DISS · Spring · since 2025
From NLP foundations to modern large language models: word embeddings, language models and sequence modelling, Transformers, BERT and transfer learning, generative AI, and the evaluation of NLP systems.

Research Project Management and Funding · M2 DISS · Spring · since 2023
Planning and running research projects (lifecycle models, work breakdown, estimation, scheduling) and writing European grant proposals (Horizon Europe, ERC, MSCA).

Big Graph Processing Systems · M2 DISS · Spring · since 2027
Advanced graph processing and analytical systems, from graph query languages to optimized, cost-based query execution. Covers recent advances in property graph models, graph queries, graph transformations, and graph schemas, along with evaluation metrics for efficient graph query processing and analytics. Includes practical sessions on writing and understanding graph queries in a graph database using openCypher.
